Seemingly everyone has an opinion on Tom Brady’s controversial Super Bowl comments from earlier this week.

On Monday’s episode of his “Let’s Go” podcast, Brady declined to make a prediction or say who he was rooting for in the Big Game. “I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one. May the best team win,” Brady said, acting like he didn’t play for the Patriots for 20 years.

Not surprisingly, those comments have been poorly received by just about everyone. Former players, media personalities, fans, and even current players have chimed in, mostly to criticize Brady for not supporting his former team.

Even Robert Spillane, who never played with Brady and is in his first year with New England, isn’t happy about it.

“Personally, it makes me sick,” Spillane told reporters on Thursday.

Brady may not care, but he’s not sending a good message to the new generation of Patriots or their fans. New England literally built a statue in his honor and his former teammate, Mike Vrabel, is coaching the team. The least Brady could do is say he’s pulling for them.

Brady’s a TV commentator and NFL owner now, so he probably wants to avoid coming off like a Patriots cheerleader. However, many of his former teammates have TV jobs, too, and that hasn’t stopped them from publicly supporting their old team.

Brady still has time before the Super Bowl to come out and show some level of support. It’s not too late. But the longer he waits, the more his comments are going to fester and the angrier people are going to get.
