The New England Pariots may be keeping a close eye on what the Dallas Cowboys do with George Pickens this offseason.

Pickens is slated to be a free agent, and he is in line for a massive payday. However, the Cowboys never make those deals easy, and Ian Rapoport recently noted that they are expected to franchise tag him.

Rapoport also noted that the Cowboys could entertain trade offers for Pickens. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox urged the Patriots to pursue Pickens if he is available in a tag-and-trade scenario.

In the Super Bowl, the offensive line woes played a huge role in the offense’s struggles. However, Seattle kept the Patriots’ wide receivers bottled up all game and gave them little room.

Pickens is an elite receiver and proved what he could do with a consistent quarterback. After years of poor quarterback play in Pittsburgh, he got to play with Dak Prescott and had a career year.

Pickens had 93 receptions, 1,429 yards, nine touchdowns, 479 yards after the catch and was named a Second-Team All-Pro. Adding him to the Patriots’ offense could be great. Drake Maye finished as the MVP runner-up last season, and giving him a weapon like Pickens could be huge.

Any team that trades for Pickens will have to turn around and have to give him a lucrative deal. The Patriots pay have to move on from Diggs to pay Pickens, but there is no doubt that Pickens is a better player right now.

Even if the Patriots have to cut Diggs, Pickens, Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams are a solid group of receivers. The Cowboys will likely try to reach a deal with Pickens, but if that process drags out, Jerry Jones could be open to trading him. He did the same thing with Micah Parsons last offseason.
