The New England Patriots are just over 24 hours away from taking the field for Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks. If all goes according to plan, players will be using Stefon Diggs‘ popular “Zombieland” celebration quite a bit throughout this game.

One of the defining characteristics of the 2025 Patriots has been Diggs’ celebration, which has been used by players across the NFL, not just in New England. Whenever someone on the Pats finishes a big play, they can usually be seen putting their left hand over their facemask and sticking their right hand out sideways while waving it.

Diggs frequently used this celebration during his breakout game with the Patriots during their Week 5 win over the Buffalo Bills. As it turns out, though, it was created back in 2022 by a pair of Western Kentucky Hilltoppers defensive backs, Upton Stout and Kahlef Hailassie, before Diggs eventually came across it on the internet.

“I’m on the internet a little bit,” Diggs said, per Brooke Pryor of ESPN. “I thought it was fitting … I’m out there just trying to have fun or bring a lot of energy and bring some swag. I take a little bit of credit. I’m a small piece of the puzzle.”

Creativity is certainly one of Diggs’ strengths when it comes to his celebrations, so while he isn’t always using the “Zombieland” celebration, it’s almost always being used by one of his teammates. Heck, head coach Mike Vrabel has even gotten in on the fun throughout the year.

This is just another little example of how New England’s unique culture has helped guide them to the Super Bowl. And if it can put together its best performance of the season, it could lead to the franchise winning its seventh Super Bowl championship.
