The New England Patriots may have had a Super Bowl stinker, but imagine how much worse things would have been for the Pats if not for Christian Gonzalez.

The elite cornerback broke up two huge plays from the arm of Seahawks QB Sam Darnold, each of which would have made Super Bowl LX far less competitive for the Pats.

Gonzalez stood out in the big game like the rare specimen that he is, reminding the Patriots that they have one of the most talented 10 or 15 players in the entire NFL on their roster in Gonzo.

This is something for the Patriots to be excited about moving forward. As good as Drake Maye is at 23 years old compared to his peers, Gonzalez might even be more special compare to his fellow cornerbacks, especially when you consider that he’s also just 23.

Defensive players often shine in Super Bowls because, by nature of their task, they are often less affected by the nerves that come with the colossal moment of the biggest game of the year.

Gonzalez proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he isn’t afraid of that moment, which is an important development for the Patriots as they hope to compete for more titles in the decade to come.
