After not cracking the Red Sox Opening Day roster in his first three MLB seasons, Jarren Duran probably had some doubts about his future in the big leagues.

But now, the Boston outfielder can call himself one of the game’s best.

Duran and the rest of the 2024 All-Stars congregated Monday, the day before the Midsummer Classic at Globe Life Field. Rubbing shoulders with baseball’s elite was quite the experience for Duran, who told former Red Sox pitcher Jake Peavy about his initial impressions after stepping into the American League clubhouse.

“It was kind of eye-opening,” Duran said on MLB Network. “You see your teammates every single day and now you look around and you got like (Aaron) Judge, (Juan) Soto, Gunnar (Henderson). Tanner (Houck) next to me — I’m glad I have him here with me — and then, like, (Adley) Rutschman. It’s really eye-opening to see all of these studs in one locker room. It’s crazy.”

There’s a chance Duran won’t be as awestruck by star-studded events in the future. If the Red Sox sparkplug stays on his current trajectory, he probably will become a regular at baseball’s tentpole outings.

After trying to help the AL pick up a win over the Senior Circuit, Duran will be back at work with the Red Sox on Friday in Los Angeles.
