Kayshon Boutte made his mark during New England's preseason opener after an eventful first year in the NFL with the Patriots.

Boutte had three catches for 53 yards, including a 28-yard catch-and-run to set up the game's first touchdown in a 17-3 win for the Patriots over the Carolina Panthers at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.

Boutte is certainly in a fight for a roster spot with so many young receivers in New England including Demario Douglas, Javon Baker, Tyquan Thornton and Ja'Lynn Polk. Despite that competition, the Patriots wideout remains confident in his abilities.

"I feel like we're all fighting for a job, but there's not a doubt in my mind that I'm gonna make the team," Boutte told reporters on Sunday, per the Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan. "You know, I feel like I'm doing everything that I'm supposed to (to) make the team."

Last season, Boutte caught just two passes for 19 yards after being selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of LSU.

In a room on plentiful young receivers, Boutte certainly has his work cut out for him as the Patriots progress closer to the regular season in the first year of a new regime.
