Olympic basketball concluded last weekend, but by Monday, Celtics fans had another kind of ring to look forward to.

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported the two matchups for opening night of the 2024-25 NBA season on Oct. 22 will be Boston hosting the New York Knicks and the Minnesota Timberwolves facing the Los Angeles Lakers at crypto.com Arena. The insider also revealed the NBA Finals rematch dates against the Dallas Mavericks will be on Jan. 25 at American Airlines Center and Feb. 6 at TD Garden.

Those announcements came after it was revealed the C's would play the Philadelphia 76ers on Christmas.

New York made splash moves this offseason when it acquired Mikal Bridges in a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The Knicks also signed Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby to max contract extensions cementing their core to compete against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference.

It's unknown when the NBA plans to officially release the full schedule for the 2024-25 season, but the leaks of key dates hint it could be announced in the coming weeks.

The Celtics kick off preseason action with a pair of matchups against the Denver Nuggets in Abu Dhabi starting Oct. 4. Boston's preseason schedule ends against the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena on Oct. 15.
