Red Sox Outright Infielder Bobby Dalbec To Triple-A Worcester

The Red Sox announced another decision with Bobby Dalbec on Tuesday.

Boston outrighted the infielder and outfielder to Triple-A Worcester after clearing waivers. The Red Sox designated the 29-year-old for assignment Sunday, a move that manager Alex Cora "hated to say" might have been best for Dalbec.

Dalbec struggled to earn playing time in the past two seasons. His play with the WooSox has been impressive, but he's been unable to translate that success at the plate from the Triple-A level to the MLB level.

The fifth-year big leaguer continues to find ways to improve his game and remain patient for another opportunity to come his way. Dalbec isn't on Boston's 40-man roster, which means he's eligible for minor-league free agency if his status within the club remains the same.

Dalbec hit one home run and recorded eight RBIs off a .410 OPS in 37 games with Boston this season. With Triple-A Worcester, Dalbec hit 19 home runs and recorded 64 RBIs off a .833 OPS in 85 games.
