Aaron Rodgers has been at it so long that NFL quarterbacks who grew up watching him now get to play against him, which was what Patriots rookie Drake Maye got to do Thursday.
Maye's debut came in the closing minutes of New England's horrendous loss to the New York Jets at Metlife Stadium. It showed why it might be too soon to replace Jacoby Brissett and highlighted the other problems with the offense.
Still, Maye got to shake hands with Rodgers after the game and even called his childhood idol the "GOAT." As far as the details of their postgame conversation, they stood behind closed doors.
"That’s a private conversation," said when WEEI's Tom Carroll asked if he had any advice for Maye.

It's an answer that shouldn't come as a surprise when it comes to Rodgers. He and Robert Saleh had interesting answers when it came to their awkward sideline interaction. But the 41-year-old never hesitates to take a shot at others in his news conferences as he did with Mel Kiper Jr.
Maye's been a sponge throughout the offseason when it comes to taking in advice from coaches and veterans, so it's safe to say that if Rodgers said anything insightful to the rookie, it will stick.
