The Bruins locked up a 2024 NHL Entry Draft pick Thursday.
General manager Don Sweeney announced in a press release that Boston signed defenseman Loke Johansson to a three-year entry-level contract with an annual NHL cap hit of $860,000.
Johansson started the season with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. He scored one goal and tallied four assists for five points in 15 games this season. The 6-foot-3, 214-pound defenseman skated in 33 games with AIK of the Swedish J20 Nationell League in 2023-24 when he recorded five goals and eight assists for 13 points. Johansson also played in 19 games with AIK of HockeyAllsvenskan during the 2023-24 season, notching one assist.
The 18-year-old had a reputation for being a big-bodied, physical defender. He flashed that ability at the rookie development camp last summer.
Boston selected the Stockholm, Sweden native in the sixth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
