Mac Jones was a disaster in Week 10, but it’s not the first time the former New England Patriots quarterback was in that situation.

Jones earned the start last Sunday after Trevor Lawrence was ruled out with a shoulder injury. The 26-year-old had a chance to regain the lead over the Minnesota Vikings, but he was responsible for three turnovers on the final Jacksonville Jaguars drives. That resulted in a 12.7 QBR and not a great impression for his post-Patriots career.

“… It’s the NFL. You got to be ready to play next week because it’s really a one-week league. You just got to change the narrative and be ready.”

Jones also was stripped-sacked when he made his Jacksonville debut in Week 3, and it doesn’t appear the change in scenery did him much good. However, he wouldn’t let those three turnovers define him.

“I thought we played with good tempo out of the huddle. Obviously, there’s a lot of things to work on throughout the game. It boils down to finishing better by me. I thought I left three plays out there, and if you change those three plays, maybe the outcome’s a little different. That’s how I’m looking at it. That’s the truth. I’m gonna learn from it and move on. Been here before, which is tough, but you also have one chance and that’s to get up and keep going. …”

Patriots fans are well aware of Jones’ implosion games from his three-year career in Foxboro, Mass. Lawrence will be out again this Sunday, leaving the former New England signal-caller to face the Detriot Lions. The Jaguars have a bye week after Week 11, and it’s possible Doug Pederson will make a change if Jones can’t step up in his second Jaguars start.
