Luke Kornet is one of the most unique personalities on the Celtics, and he displayed that again Monday night.
Boston overwhelmed the Miami Heat at TD Garden on a night when it didn’t have Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday. Kornet got the starting nod and blocked six shots.
The veteran center and Derrick White anchored the Celtics defense and have been Boston’s top shot blockers this season. Kornet praised White’s athleticism and basketball IQ, and he also made a hilarious observation.
“I think him and I both know a thing or two about rejection in our life. Perhaps that is part of it,” Kornet told reporters, per WEEI’s Justin Turpin.
Kornet took a moment to reflect on what he said as reporters in the media room bursted out laughing. The 29-year-old is no stranger to dad jokes nor is he ever afraid to throw out a quick joke in his news conferences. Fans loved Kornet’s one-liner and even joked about what else might have gone on in Kornet and White’s romantic relationships to bring up such a comment.

The Celtics thrive off proving others wrong, so that’s another interpretation of Kornet’s comments. However, it did show how close of friends the eighth-year center and White are.
