Ja’Lynn Polk could use a bye week.

The New England Patriots rookie wideout underwhelmed greatly through 13 games and has been consistently criticized for his lack of production and mindless miscues.

Those inside the building at One Patriot Place believe the root of Polk’s problems are mental struggles, according to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed.

“Team sources believe Polk is struggling mentally with mistakes and that he’s hard on himself,” Kyed wrote, “so the issues are compounding.”

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo felt Polk was going through a “mental hump” in mid-October. Polk pushed back on Mayo’s assessment at the time.

The Washington product caught 10 of the 26 passes thrown his way since then.
