The Bruins found themselves involved in a radio frenzy on Friday, but it wasn’t bad enough to prevent a well-timed joke.

WEEI’s Rich Keefe claimed there were major issues within the club’s dressing room on Friday, specifically pointing to Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. Keefe claimed the latter no longer wanted to play with the former, essentially painting their relationship out to be fractured, while citing anonymous sources.

Marchand, never one to be out-jabbed, gave a fiery response.

“Pasta and I are best friends. We’ve been incredibly close for a long time, and the only reason we don’t play together is to spread the depth through the lineup. There’s zero truth to him being a problem in the room. He’s one of the most loved guys in the room. There’s zero issues in the room at all and to say he’s at the center of anything is a completely fabricated lie. This guy has zero merit to anything he’s saying… This guy can go pound sand and go back to the closet where no one knew he was before and report on nothing because that’s what he’s going to be doing after this.”

Boston’s social media team got in on the action, posting photos of Marchand and Pastrnak yucking it up. The post can be found here.

The Bruins haven’t won a game in nearly two weeks, so the timing of such a strongly worded report isn’t all that surprising. Marchand and Pastrnak will be high on the list of players who need to step up to turn things around.
