The Chicago Blackhawks needed just 1:33 early in the third period to take complete control of their game with the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at TD Garden.

In those 93 seconds, the Blackhawks scored three goals to give Chicago a 4-1 lead, and the Bruins could not recover.

“Three shifts in a row we got scored against,” Bruins forward David Pastrnak told reporters after Boston’s 5-2 loss in their penultimate home game of the season. “Just a loss of concentration. It can happen in this league. The game can get away from you very quickly, and we’ve seen it tonight. Three shifts were a little sloppy, and we made some mistakes, and they capitalized. A three-goal lead in the third, I don’t think you’re going to come back many times.”

Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman faced just three shots in the third period, and all of them ended up in the back of the net.

“I think it’s just they won that couple of minutes, and that decided the game,” Swayman said after making 17 saves on 21 shots in the loss. “It’s unfortunate, but I had a really good two first periods, and a lot of positives have to come out of this game.”

With two games remaining in the regular season, Swayman is focused on the positives instead of the results.

“It’s just bearing down on what we do right and how we become a successful team,” Swayman added. “Really striving for that extra effort, making sure that we’re doing everything we possibly can to help this team win games. We know we have it in here. That’s something we can really bear down on.”

Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie kept their hot streaks going by scoring their 42nd and 31st goals, respectively, in the loss. However, the Bruins, who peppered Arvid Soderblom with 33 shots, never really threatened to take over the game.

“I think we just got away from our game,” Geekie said. “First period, I thought we played well. They kind of pushed back in the second. It’s one of those, I don’t know, it’s tough to describe it now. I mean, it happens too often to be something that isn’t a problem. Especially in front of our home crowd, that’s a tough showing for us.”
