The New York Jets dismantled their defense with two blockbuster trades, but they kept a key offensive player amid the chaos.

New York made the two biggest deals before Tuesday’s deadline, sending shutdown cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys. The Jets stopped there, retaining Breece Hall despite reports claiming the running back desired a trade.

Hall denied requesting a trade when speaking to reporters on Wednesday, per SNY.

“There’s just been a lot of stuff out … a lot of stuff that’s true and false,” Hall said. “I let that be what it is. It’s out there. It is what it is, but I’m here, and I’m worried about playing Cleveland this week.”

The New England Patriots had some loose links to Hall before the deadline, but it was never particularly likely for Gang Green to ship the dynamic playmaker to an AFC East rival. However, the Jets talked about sending Hall to another AFC contender.

SNY’s Connor Hughes and ESPN’s Nate Taylor reported that the Kansas City Chiefs offered a fourth-round pick for Hall, but the Jets wanted a third.

Hall will instead stay with the 1-7 Jets, who could spend the rest of the 2025 season competing for next year’s No. 1 overall draft pick. The fourth-year pro, who’s in the final year of his rookie contract, said it wasn’t his call if he went elsewhere.

“I don’t think it’s up to a player to be traded,” Hall said. “I think, in my situation, if I was going to be traded, it was going to be whether I wanted to be or not.”

However, Hall said he wasn’t hoping the Jets would move him.

“I can’t control what’s going to go on. It’s going to be what it’s going to be,” Hall said. “I’ve just got to be where my feet are and take it with a grain of salt, whatever happened.”

Since he’s staying put, the Patriots will encounter Hall twice when playing the Jets in Weeks 11 and 17.
