The Patriots are having a fantastic season. If nothing unexpected happens in the next four games, New England will make it to the playoffs.

Many were surprised by how quickly New England has risen to prominence. While the Patriots’ primary objective is to win the Super Bowl, they may not be as close to achieving that goal as some other teams.

If the Patriots have a successful offseason, they could become the team to beat in the NFL next season. However, New England needs to ensure that everyone stays healthy throughout the remainder of this season and that nothing occurs to sideline players for 2026.

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon outlined what could be the Patriots’ biggest nightmare scenario this season, suggesting that an injury to a key player could significantly hinder New England’s chances to win next year.

“They’re playing with house money with the rebuild so far ahead of schedule, so only a significant injury to a key young player who could impact 2026 would constitute a Patriots nightmare at this stage,” Gagnon wrote on Wednesday.

While many Patriots players are talented, the player with the most significant impact is undoubtedly quarterback Drake Maye.

If a serious injury were to strike Maye, jeopardizing his ability to play next season, it could prove to be one of the worst setbacks for the Patriots.
