The 11-2 New England Patriots play host to the 9-4 Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. With a win, the Patriots could clinch the AFC East for the first time since 2019, when they were crowned champions for the 11th year in a row.

The spread for Sunday’s game opened at -1.5 for the Bills and has remained there all week.

Head coach Mike Vrabel on Wednesday was asked about “the people in Las Vegas” who have the Patriots as an underdog.

“Who are the people, Ben?” Vrabel asked the reporter.

“I guess the oddsmakers,” the reporter said.

“There you go, that’s what they’re called. They’re called oddsmakers, not people. There’s a lot of people in Las Vegas, there’s only a few of them they trust to set the line,” Vrabel said.

After the light-hearted exchange, the reporter asked Vrabel if he pays attention to the lines, specifically as an underdog.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

“No… I mean, it gets brought to attention,” Vrabel said. “Every week in this league, you see that records really don’t mean anything. And, you know, the point spreads and survivor pools get blown up every week.

“We’re just trying to focus on our preparation here and get back into it.”

Vrabel’s Tennessee Titans were a perfect 6-0 after a bye week during his six seasons in Nashville. His teams won by an average of exactly 16 points, with five of the six games decided by two or more scores.

Among Vrabel’s bye week wins was a 42-16 trouncing of the Bills in 2020.
