The Boston Bruins received positive injury updates on Thursday.

It’s about time…

Charlie McAvoy was added to the active roster prior to the club’s matchup with the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre — with the expectation that he’ll return to the lineup, according to The Boston Globe’s Jim McBride.

McAvoy, 27, has been out of the lineup since undergoing surgery for a facial fracture after getting hit with a slap shot against the Montreal Canadiens on Nov. 15. McAvoy spoke with reporters following an optional morning skate on Thursday.

“Today felt good and then we just monitor it throughout the day,” McAvoy said. “I’ve got to go talk to the trainers right now, so I don’t have an answer for you yet, but we’ll see how the rest of the day goes.”

The Bruins’ medical team gave him the answer he was looking for, and he has no reservations about playing with a new helmet setup — which he presumably will have to do.

“No, not really,” McAvoy said. “I mean, I’ve played with a bubble before. I feel pretty good as far as I’ve got plates in my jaw. I think I’m protected pretty well, so obviously we will see what happens whenever it happens. Maybe it’ll be a little shock at first, but then it’s just hockey.”

Boston finished 6-5 without their star defenseman.
