Hunter Dobbins is on the mend.
The Red Sox right-hander is continuing to rehab the torn ACL he suffered last July. And, on Thursday, Dobbins posted an encouraging video update from a throwing session at Texas Tech.
“Update: bullpens around the corner,” Dobbins wrote in the post caption.

The 2021 eighth-round pick entered last season as a top 10 prospect in the system before debuting in early April. Utilizing a high-90s fastball and varied pitch mix, Dobbins went 4-1 with a 4.13 ERA and 1.279 WHIP across 13 appearances (11 starts) before tearing his ACL.
It remains to be seen whether Dobbins will be ready for the start of spring training, let alone the regular season. But if the 26-year-old makes a full recovery, he could compete for one of the Red Sox’s final two rotation spots.

Kutter Crawford, Connelly Early, Kyle Harrison, Patrick Sandoval, Payton Tolle, and newcomer Johan Oviedo also figure to compete for rotation spots, with Garrett Crochet, Sonny Gray and Brayan Bello leading the group.
