New York Mets fans, look away! Footage has emerged of Pete Alonso donning a Baltimore Orioles uniform and hat, as Alonso was introduced on Friday as the franchise’s newest star.
Alonso’s press conference produced some interesting sound bites from the Polar Bear. When asked about his love for the New York Mets and what made him see himself as an Oriole, Alonso called Baltimore a “perfect fit.”
“You really kinda don’t know what’s gonna happen (in free agency),” Alonso said. “It’s kinda like this weird baseball limbo. … As we got further along (in the process), this partnership was head and shoulders above everybody else. This park, this city, this team, this organization. Everything combined. Everything just clicked. … It was the perfect fit.”
Alonso agreed to a five-year, $155 million contract with Baltimore on December 10, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan, who also asserted that the Orioles may now have the best lineup in Major League Baseball.

Alonso slashed .272/ .347/ .524 in 2025 with 38 home runs and 126 RBI over 162 games for the Mets, earning his first Silver Slugger and an All-Star nod while finishing 11th in National League MVP voting. His strong campaign included a league-leading 16 homers against lefties.
Across seven MLB seasons, the 2019 Rookie of the Year has mashed 264 long balls (a Mets franchise record) with a .253 average, 712 RBI, and five All-Star selections.
