Legendary Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce has never been afraid to voice his opinion on anything basketball-related. His latest take regarding LeBron James and Stephen Curry, though, may end up being one of his most divisive ones yet.

James and Curry are both considered two of the greatest players in NBA history. James’ longevity and consistent greatness during his time in the league have vaulted him into the conversation for the greatest player of all time alongside Michael Jordan, while Curry’s prolific three-point shooting has legitimately revolutionized the game of basketball.

In the eyes of many fans, James is considered a better all-around player than Curry. However, given all the success Curry has had at James’ expense, he thinks the skilled sharpshooter has a legitimate claim for being the best player of his generation over LeBron.

“He beat him three times (in the Finals),” Pierce of Curry on “No Fouls Given.” “The man has a unanimous while ‘Bron was in his prime. ‘Bron can’t get one vote? … Nobody is getting a unanimous MVP in the (Michael) Jordan era. Unanimous is unheard of.”

For much of his career, Curry has been a thorn in James’ side. He took him down three times in the NBA Finals, while also winning a pair of MVP Awards over him. He may not be better than James all-time, but in his generation, Curry could make a real argument that he’s been better than his top competitor, LeBron.

It’s also worth noting that both of these guys are still playing and adding to their legacies. As for the Celtics, they are looking to continue making their mark as an unexpected contender in the Eastern Conference. After several days off, the C’s will be back in action against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night.
