Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard is in danger of missing his first game of the season after being added to the team’s injury report on Monday, hours ahead of the group’s contest against the Detroit Pistons.
“Injury Report update: Payton Pritchard (right neck spasm) – QUESTIONABLE Jayson Tatum (right Achilles repair) – OUT,” the Celtics official account posted on X.
Pritchard is the only Boston player to play in each of the team’s first 25 games this season and is one of just three members of the squad to appear in all of the contests, joining forward Sam Hauser and fellow guard Anfernee Simons.
The reigning Sixth Man of the Year is second on the team in assists per game (5.0) and third in points (16.8) and minutes per tilt (32.3) while averaging career highs across the board.

Pritchard’s shooting numbers are down thus far, however, as he’s posted a .443/.337/.860 slash line across the first two months of the campaign.
The Celtics and Pistons have split their first two meetings this season, with Detroit winning 119-113 on Oct. 26 and Boston ending its opponent’s then 13-game winning streak with a 117-104 victory on Nov. 26.
