Jaylen Brown has never been short on confidence. The Boston Celtics star is one of the best forwards in the NBA. He’s an All-Star and an NBA champion. You don’t get to that level by being riddled with self-doubt.

So it should come as no surprise that Brown recently made the bold claim that he could defeat Stephen Curry in a one-on-one scenario. His comments came during a recent live stream on Twitch.

“Curry one-on-one? For sure. It’s like weight classes, same thing,” Brown said. “You know what I mean? He’s too small. I don’t agree with that, man. In one-on-one, Curry’s not beating me.”

Curry is arguably the greatest point guard of all time. He’s undoubtedly the best shooter that’s ever stepped foot on an NBA court. And while Brown does boast a size and strength advantage, there’s no guarantee he could beat Curry in a one-on-one matchup, especially if the Golden State Warriors guard started with the ball.

Still, you can’t fault Brown for his confidence. He’s having the best season of his career and currently ranks seventh in the MVP ladder, having previously held the fifth spot.

In 25 games, Brown is averaging 29.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists, shooting 50% from the field and 36.1% from deep.

With his current momentum, it’s hard to envision any guard being able to shut Brown down in a one-on-one scenario, even if that guard is a future Hall of Famer with multiple championship rings on his resume.
