No player on the New England Patriots has more receiving yards than star wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
However, last Sunday, Diggs logged just 26 snaps played against his former team, the Buffalo Bills.
Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels cleared the air, telling reporters that Diggs didn’t play many snaps because the offense couldn’t stay on the field.
The 32-year-old receiver, however, seems to be taking the reduction in playing time a little differently.
“Just trying to get used to it. It was kind of the same in the beginning of the year, too,” Diggs said. “I just try to take advantage of the opportunities I do get and when I am out there, be a vessel, be a positive force rather than being any other way. I’m adjusting to it. I just try to do what I’m asked and handle it the best way I can.”

The receiver’s comments seem to suggest that the reduced role was, in fact, not incidental.
If it were an isolated issue, there would be nothing to get used to. However, if the receiver is planning on “adjusting” to playing a 50% snap share, perhaps this could be the new normal going forward.
Diggs has seen his playing time decrease every game since Week 11, when he played a season-high 46 snaps and surpassed 100 yards receiving.

“I always want to be out there,” Diggs said. “I want to make plays, and I want to play at a high level. We have a lot of skill guys. We’ve got a lot of amazing players. I’m just doing what I can.”
While Diggs continues to handle himself like a professional, his playing time trending downwards creates more questions than answers.
