Buffalo Bills fans were holding their collective breath Sunday afternoon as Josh Allen left with a second-quarter foot injury.

However, X-rays were negative, and the star quarterback would return in the second half of the Bills’ 23-20 win over the Cleveland Browns — a close call against one of the NFL’s most miserable teams.

Allen limped off the field following a sack shortly before halftime and went to the locker room early for imaging. He came out with the team for the second half and finished the game without issue.

“We’re gravy, baby. It’s all good,” Allen told CBS sideline reporter Evan Washburn following the game.

It’s not entirely overstating it to say the Bills’ playoff hopes hinge entirely on Allen and his health. Further, his mobility — both in and around the pocket, and on bootlegs and designed runs — is an essential part of his game and, in turn, Buffalo’s offense.

Should he end up limited in any way, that’s something to monitor in the final games of the season and certainly heading into the playoffs.

But, as Allen said, things are gravy for now. He finished 12-for-19 in the air for 130 yards, adding 17 yards on the ground across seven carries.
