The Buffalo Sabres (18-14-4) have won seven straight and are on the heels of the Boston Bruins (20-17-1) in the wild card standings.

The Bruins have dropped four consecutive games but caught a break ahead of Saturday night’s clash vs. the Sabres, as Buffalo star defender Rasmus Dahlin was ruled out for the contest.

“Rasmus Dahlin won’t play tonight. He was home in Sweden with his fiancee. He should be back with the Sabres at the start of their road trip. Ryan Johnson has been called up,” Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic posted on Bluesky.

The three-time All-Star and former No. 1 overall pick leads the Sabres in assists (24) this season and is third in points (28).

Not having to face Dahlin is a huge advantage for Boston.

The Bruins were facing some potential adversity ahead of the road battle on Saturday afternoon though, according to veteran NHL writer Joe Yerdon, as a snowstorm batters the northeast.

“The Bruins have not arrived in Buffalo as yet. The weather is causing them issues in Boston so, obviously, they’re not skating here this morning,” Yerdon posted on Bluesky.
