Jaylen Brown deserves all the praise coming his way. The Boston Celtics’ all-star forward is quickly piecing together a career year as the team’s primary offensive option. Not only has Brown taken his scoring to another level, but he’s also making history along the way.

During the Celtics’ 114-108 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, Dec. 28, Brown tied Larry Bird for the most consecutive 30-point games in a Celtics jersey (nine). He also surpassed Bill Sharman for 12th on Boston’s all-time scoring list.

When speaking to the media after the game, Celtics guard Derrick White was full of praise for Brown and how he has handled stepping into a larger role.

“He’s been unbelievable,” White said. “Every night he shows up and is a big leader for us on and off the court. He’s been unbelievable all year and one of the best players in the NBA. He’s been showing it every night.”

Brown’s performances this season have seen him move into the top-10 of the NBA’s MVP ladder, with the latest rankings placing him at seventh and his season high being fifth. The Georgia native is also on track to make his fifth All-Star appearance and should be a strong candidate for an All-NBA team at the end of the current campaign.

It’s also worth noting that Brown’s production hasn’t been empty numbers. Boston boasts a 19-12 record and sits third in the Eastern Conference. The franchise is surpassing all expectations following its cost-cutting measures this summer.

The Celtics will face the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, Dec. 30. If Brown enjoys another 30-point night, he will set a new franchise record and move ahead of Bird. It’s becoming a memorable season for the former third-overall draft pick.
