New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has been phenomenal all season, but Sunday’s game against the New York Jets was his best performance yet.

Maye went off against the Jets, throwing a career-high five touchdown passes in the Patriots’ 42-10 rout at MetLife Stadium. He also completed 19 of 21 passes for 256 yards while rushing three times for 22 yards.

The 23-year-old has emerged as an MVP frontrunner in his second season, putting up truly historic production. He’s now the first quarterback in NFL history with at least 4,200 passing yards, 30 passing touchdowns, a 110.0 passer rating, 400 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in the same season.

After showing promise during an uneven rookie season last year, Maye has put it all together this year. He’s improved in virtually every area and established himself as one of the sport’s best quarterbacks, leading the league in completion rate, passer rating, passing yards per attempt and air yards per attempt.

Throw in his success on the ground, and Maye’s been virtually unstoppable, leading New England to 10 straight wins at one point, a perfect road record and the best record in the NFL at 13-3.

After helping the Patriots clinch the AFC East, Maye will get one more chance to pad his stats and MVP case this weekend against the Miami Dolphins at home. He already tore up the Dolphins in Week 2 with 230 passing yards and three total touchdowns, so don’t be surprised if he ends the regular season on a high note.
