Jaylen Brown and Luka Doncic are two of the best players in the NBA. However, most fans and experts would probably agree that Doncic is better.
While Brown is playing the best basketball of his career right now, Doncic is simply on another level. He’s averaging more points, assists and rebounds per game, leading the NBA in scoring at 33.7 points per game while averaging close to a triple-double.
Brown is a better defender, but offensively, there’s no question about which star is better offensively.
On Monday’s episode of the “Club 520 Podcast,” however, Brown’s former teammate Jeff Teague tried to make the case that Brown is a superior player while discussing who should make First Team All-NBA this season.
“I’m picking (Jaylen Brown) over Luka… who they play in the finals? Who won Finals MVP?” Teague said, referring to the 2024 NBA Finals.

To Teague’s point, Brown outplayed Doncic during those finals, winning NBA Finals MVP as the Celtics took down the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
That was a year and a half ago, however, and has nothing to do with who deserves All-NBA honors this season. Brown may have been better over those few games, but Doncic has been better this season and throughout their careers, earning five first-team honors to Brown’s zero.

The season isn’t even halfway over yet, so there’s still plenty of basketball left to be played. Brown’s been phenomenal for Boston and deserves to be in the conversation, but Doncic’s simply been better so far.
