The Miami Dolphins reportedly made an interesting hire to advise their general manager search this offseason.
Miami and longtime general manager Chris Grier agreed to mutually part ways on Halloween, and since then, the Dolphins have been searching for a new general manager.
With Miami looking to chase down the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills in 2026, the Dolphins are bringing in some outside expertise. NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that Miami has hired Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman to help advise the Dolphins’ general manager search.
“It is not a permanent role, but he will be an adviser throughout the process for the Dolphins’ next general manager,” Schefter wrote.
“Miami ownership wanted an outside respected perspective from someone who had strong relationships across the league. Aikman brings this after more than three decades as an NFL player and broadcaster.”

Although Aikman is helping the Dolphins, his role on “Monday Night Football” will not change, according to Schefter.
Since Miami moved on from Greer, the Dolphins have gone 5-2. Yet, Miami still failed to make the playoffs for the second-straight season.
The Dolphins are 7-9 entering their season finale on the road against the Patriots on Sunday.
