According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the New York Yankees have recently checked in on free agent infielder Bo Bichette.

“Three previously unreported teams have checked on superstar Bo Bichette: Yankees, Dodgers and Cubs,” Heyman wrote on January 1.

“The Yankees and Cubs are fielding inquiries on their star 2B who are free agents after 2026 (Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Nico Hoerner).”

Bichette delivered a strong performance in the 2025 season with the Toronto Blue Jays, batting .311 with 181 hits, 44 doubles, 18 home runs, and 94 RBIs in 139 games, earning a 3.5 bWAR. A left knee PCL sprain sidelined him from early September through much of the playoffs, but he returned for the World Series, shifting to second base for the first time in his MLB career. There, he hit a three-run homer off Shohei Ohtani in Game 7.

Over his seven-year career (2019-2025), all with Toronto, the 27-year-old shortstop has compiled a .294 average, 111 home runs, 437 RBIs, and 904 hits. A two-time All-Star and consistent contact hitter, Bichette launched his 100th career homer in May 2025, becoming the first Blue Jays shortstop to do so.

Bichette entered free agency after declining Toronto’s qualifying offer.
