It wasn’t their prettiest outing, but the Boston Celtics managed to earn their fourth-straight win on Monday night when they defeated the Chicago Bulls by a score of 115-101. While this may seem like an insignificant win, it actually was quite important for the C’s and the rest of the Eastern Conference.

Early in the 2025-26 campaign, the Celtics have proven that, even after losing a significant amount of talent over the offseason, they still mean business this year. For much of the season, they have been among the top three teams in the East alongside the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks.

Elsewhere on Monday night, the Pistons and Knicks squared off, with Detroit easily picking up a 121-90 win. With Boston winning and New York losing, that was enough to bump the C’s up to second place in the East for the time being.

With guys like Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet and Al Horford leaving over the offseason, and Jayson Tatum set to miss the majority of the season recovering from a torn Achilles tendon, expectations were low for Boston this year.

And yet, with Jaylen Brown leading the way, the Celtics have looked like one of the most dangerous teams in the East. If Tatum can get himself back on the court later this season, Boston could be primed to make another deep playoff run this year.

There’s still a lot of work to be done, but the early returns continue to be encouraging for the C’s. Boston will look to earn its fifth-straight win when it squares off against the Denver Nuggets at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday night.
