The Boston Bruins were able to get back in the win column Thursday night with a 4-1 trouncing of the Calgary Flames in TD Garden.

The Bruins have won three out of the last four and are averaging five goals per game while doing so. But none of the 20 goals scored have come off the stick of the team’s leading goal scorer, Morgan Geekie.

Geekie still comfortably sits atop the Bruins’ stat sheet with 25 goals on the season, but the last time he lit the lamp was back on December 20th in the shootout loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

Boston decided it was time to shake things up last time out, sending him down to the third line where he winged 21-year-old center Fraser Minten and offseason addition Alex Steeves.

Although the Bruins won handily, this line ended up being the only combination that was not on the ice for a hometown score.

Geekie told reporters before the game that he is doing his best not to let the drought get to him.

“Just change the color of your tape for a little bit or sticks, or something like that,” Geekie said. “Try not to put too much weight on it. I feel like I’ve been pretty lucky the last year or so … so it’s kind of about time this happens.

“This is one of those things everyone goes through.”

Geekie maintained that he plans to keep putting pucks on net and is expecting the tides to turn soon.

He recorded two shots on goal in his nearly 17 minutes of ice time.
