Golden State Warriors wing Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL on Monday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The six-time NBA All-Star was averaging 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game this season for the Warriors. Golden State will now be without Butler for the remainder of the campaign, a devastating development for Stephen Curry and Co.
Butler has adapted well to the Warriors since being traded to Golden State from the Miami Heat in the middle of last season. In 68 regular-season games for the Dubs, Butler has averaged 19.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists on 50.1 percent shooting from the field.
Butler’s NBA journey began in 2011 when the Chicago Bulls selected him 30th overall. Through his career, he’s evolved from a defensive specialist into a two-way superstar, tallying averages of 18.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists across 907 games.

Known for his tenacity and playoff prowess, Butler powered the Bulls to multiple postseason runs, briefly starred with Minnesota and Philadelphia, and propelled Miami to two Finals appearances, including a remarkable 2023 run as an eighth seed.
