Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel had a message for wide receiver Kayshon Boutte upon entering the locker room following New England’s 28-16 victory over the Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

“It was a great moment,” Boutte told reporters at Gillette Stadium on Monday when asked about the embrace, as shared by the team.” I think he told me he was proud of the way I was going.

“I’m thankful he believed in me when he came in,” Boutte continued. “There was a lot of talks about where I would be, possibly traded and stuff like that. But, I mean, we’re sitting here today. He believed, I believed. It’s been great.”

Boutte hauled in a 32-yard touchdown from quarterback Drake Maye early in the fourth quarter, which gave the Patriots a two-possession lead and thus put the game away. He finished with three receptions for 75 yards, including two other chain-moving catches on a drive which ended in a seven-yard touchdown for Stefon Diggs.

With the Patriots now set to face the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game, Boutte credited Vrabel and said it all started with the Coach of the Year front-runner and the belief he instilled in the locker room.
