The New England Patriots made a flurry of roster moves on Saturday.

You ready?

New England announced that defensive lineman Leonard Taylor III and running back D’Ernest Johnson were elevated from the practice squad to the active roster, defensive lineman Joshua Farmer (hamstring) and running back Terrell Jennings (concussion) were not activated off injured reserve, wide receiver Mack Hollins (abdomen) was activated off injured reserve, defensive lineman Eric Gregory was placed on injured reserve and wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. was released from the practice squad prior to its matchup with the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship.

If your eyes glazed over reading all of that, just take a look at the last move made which follows an interesting trend that has formed over the last few days…

Sherfield, 29, was cut loose after just 11 days with the organization, missing out on an opportunity to face his former club in the AFC Championship. Sherfield made three total receptions, one of which was a touchdown, this season for Denver before eventually being cut loose on Nov. 15.

Darrell Taylor, 28, experienced something similar, as he spent nine days with the organization and was ultimately cut soon after preparations concluded for his former team — as he was released just days following a divisional round victory over the Houston Texans.

Coincidence? Yes, probably, but an interesting one nevertheless.
