The New England Patriots can make history with two more wins, as they’d break their tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers for most Super Bowl wins at six.

First things first, as Drake Maye, Mike Vrabel and the Patriots need to defeat the host Denver Broncos in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

New England would make NFL history with a win over Denver too.

“The Patriots have won four road conference championship games since the NFL-AFL merger, which ties with the Cowboys for the most in the NFL. A win Sunday in Denver would break the tie,” ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote on Sunday morning.

The Patriots captured their first road AFC title victory on Jan. 12, 1986, when they defeated the Miami Dolphins in South Beach, 31-14. New England then fell to the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XX.

The team then stunned the host Steelers on Jan. 27, 2002, by a score of 24-17, one week before earning their first Super Bowl title vs. the then-St. Louis Rams.

The Patriots again eliminated Pittsburgh on the road on Jan. 23, 2005, by a 41-27 count on their way to a win in Super Bowl XXXIX over the Philadelphia Eagles.

New England’s most recent AFC Championship Game road triumph came vs. the Kansas City Chiefs on Jan. 20, 2019, with a 37-31 win in overtime. The Patriots then defeated the Los Angeles Rams, 13-3, in Super Bowl LIII.
