The New England Patriots will compete for their seventh Super Bowl title in franchise history after defeating the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
There are a few reasons the Patriots will be competing in the Super Bowl, primarily two key moves made this offseason. First, they hired head coach Mike Vrabel, and second, they signed veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Vrabel did an outstanding job this season, turning around a team that had won only four games the season before. Diggs praised Vrabel for his leadership skills, especially during the rocky moments early in the season.
“We lost to the Steelers, and nobody believed in us, let alone liked us,” Diggs said on Sunday. “Our coach believed in us, he helped us build this identity. Hopefully, he wins coach of the year, he’s probably the best coach I ever had.”
Diggs had a solid game, recording five receptions on six targets for 17 yards. He likely would have had more production if the second half hadn’t turned into a winter wonderland, making it nearly impossible to throw the ball.

Even though the Patriots are aiming to bring home the Super Bowl, their season has been a significant success, as they’ve returned to playing meaningful postseason football.
