At just 23 years old, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye sits behind only Miami Dolphins Hall of Famer Dan Marino as the youngest quarterback to ever start a Super Bowl game.
The second-year gunslinger will be putting all his chips in the middle with a chance to land on another list among future and present Hall of Famers.
With a win next Sunday, Maye would become just the fifth quarterback to win a Super Bowl in their second year.
Kurt Warner was the first in 1999 with the “Greatest Show on Turf”, St. Louis Rams. Although it is worth noting that the Canadian Football League star was 28 years old when Super Bowl XXXIV was played.
Then just two years later, it was 24-year-old Tom Brady helping New England lift the organization’s first Lombardi Trophy. Brady’s Patriots were 14-point underdogs to Warner’s Rams.

In 2005, Ben Roethlisberger, who is just a few months behind Maye as the third youngest quarterback to start a Super Bowl, led his Pittsburgh Steelers to a 21-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks despite completing just nine passes for 123 yards and throwing two interceptions.
Most recently, it was Seahawks legend Russell Wilson in Super Bowl 48. As underdogs, Wilson’s Seahawks beat the Peyton Manning-led Broncos 43-8 in the most lopsided Super Bowl in NFL history.
Maye will once again try to put Seattle on the wrong side of this trend Feb. 8 in Santa Clara.
