Tarik Skubal trade rumors are bound to continue until the Detroit Tigers come out and say he is untouchable, which isn’t likely to happen.
On that note, Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer just came up with a new package that the Los Angeles Dodgers could theoretically send to Detroit for Skubal: Roki Sasaki, Zyhir Hope (MLB No. 27), and Jackson Ferris.
Rymer contextualized his idea on Tuesday.
“They don’t need a trade for Skubal… but at this point, they seem to be doing things just because they can,” Rymer wrote. “And given that they have more resources than just money, such a trade is something they indeed can do.”
“The Dodgers are so good that Sasaki, who was the No. 1 prospect in MLB last year, projects as their No. 6 starter. Using him as a trade chip is arguably their best play just in the abstract.”

“Hope is still raw, but he profiles as a corner outfielder with power and speed on offense. Ferris is likewise raw in the control department, but he showed how good his stuff is by fanning 135 batters in 126.0 innings at Double-A in 2025.”
Rymer also made sure to talk about reasons that this trade wouldn’t happen.
“Frankly, one doubts that the Dodgers would part ways with Sasaki just one year after scoring him as a major offseason prize,” Rymer wrote.

“Conceptually, though, it’s his inclusion that makes this proposal work. He’d bring both short- and long-term upside to Detroit’s rotation, which is the only way that trading Skubal is going to make any sense. … What we have here is a trade proposal that both sides would really have to chew on.”
Skubal delivered another dominant performance in the 2025 MLB season for the Tigers, solidifying his status as one of baseball’s elite pitchers. He posted a 13-6 record with a sparkling 2.21 ERA across 31 starts and 195.1 innings pitched, striking out 241 batters while holding opponents to a 0.89 WHIP.
Skubal achieved one complete game and one shutout, allowing just 18 home runs. His consistency shone through in key stretches, including a 1.47 ERA over his final seven outings. Named an American League All-Star and AL Player of the Week ending June 29, he helped propel the Tigers to an 87-75 record and a second-place finish in the AL Central, earning a playoff berth.

Detroit advanced to the ALDS after a strong showing in the Wild Card round but fell short against tougher competition. On January 25, Skubal was awarded his second consecutive AL Cy Young, recognizing his back-to-back excellence.
Over his career since debuting in 2020, Skubal has compiled a 54-37 record, 3.08 ERA, and 889 strikeouts in 137 appearances (134 starts) spanning 766.2 innings. Early years included a challenging 2020 rookie season amid the pandemic and a 2021 campaign with mixed results.
Arm fatigue sidelined him in late 2022, leading to surgery and a limited 2023 return. His 2024 breakout (18-4 with a 2.39 ERA) marked a turning point, earning his first Cy Young and All-MLB First Team honors.
