Everyone seemingly has an opinion on Bill Belichick being denied entry to the Pro Football Hall of Fame — including United States President Donald Trump.
In case you somehow missed it, Belichick didn’t earn the required 40 of 50 votes to earn enshrinement in his first time on the ballot. The New England Patriots legend is widely considered the greatest head coach in NFL history, but that didn’t stop personal agendas — perhaps led by Bill Polian — from derailing a deserved honor.
Trump, a past and potentially current friend of Belichick, used his Truth Social account to criticize the voting process and demand Belichick’s first-ballot enshrinement.
“It is the same mindset that gave pro football the new and unwatchable ‘Sissy’ Kickoff Rule, that made it possible for Bill Belichick to not be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Both are ridiculous and should be overturned!”
On Wednesday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame issued a statement saying it could remove voters from the selection committee if they violate bylaws. It wasn’t immediately clear whether said violations related to the actual voting process or, perhaps, the leaking of results before the intended announcement date.

Regardless, as of this writing, there was no indication that the Hall of Fame would reveresevoting results and make Belichick a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Such a decision, while potentially deserved, also could open a pandora’s box and further undermine the credibility of the voting process.
