There are a lot of intriguing storylines surrounding the New England Patriots ahead of Super Bowl LX. While all eyes are focused on star quarterback Drake Maye and his practice status, Bill Belichick has found himself in the news as of late, too.
Belichick endured a rough first season in charge of the North Carolina Tar Heels, and he often found himself and his team receiving attention for all the wrong reasons. This time around, though, he has found himself receiving pity from fans, thanks to a stunning move from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Earlier this week, a report emerged indicating that Belichick did not receive enough votes to be enshrined into the Hall of Fame. This has sparked outrage from folks everywhere, including legendary wide receiver Terrell Owens, who called Belichick’s snub a “travesty.”
“You have to give respect when respect is due, and as well as credit,” Owens said on NewsNation’s “CUOMO.” “This guy owns pretty much every record that you can name of as a head coach. Again, this is on the writers. This is a travesty. It’s the most ridiculous thing … this is totally on the writers, and this decision will never happen.”
Owens wasn’t necessarily a fan of Belichick’s throughout his time in the league, but he always respected his work and what he accomplished during his time in charge of the Patriots. It doesn’t take a genius to be able to tell that Belichick is a surefire Hall of Famer.

And yet, for whatever reason, the Hall decided to ignore his accomplishments and discredit itself by refusing to enshrine him this year. Belichick will be inducted one day, but there’s no doubt that this is a glaring mishap from the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
