The New England Patriots can re-establish themselves as a popular team to hate by igniting another dominant era with a Super Bowl LX win over the Seattle Seahawks. Not all of their current stars grew up idolizing the dynasty.
Milton Williams confessed on Thursday, via NBC 10 WJAR’s Nicole Menner, that he wasn’t a Patriots supporter at the height of their success.
“I always tell people this, and y’all gonna kill me when I say this, but I did not like the Patriots,” Williams said.
The defensive tackle still didn’t resent Tom Brady as much as some other NFL fans. Williams, who won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles last year, appreciates the seven-time champion even more after experiencing the grind as a player.
“I wasn’t a Tom Brady hater,” Williams insisted. “When somebody always wins, it’s like, man, let somebody else win. But when you really get in it and you understand what comes with it, and the work you got to put in to consistently be doing it over and over again, you really can’t say nothing. He’s one of the best to ever do it.”

Williams wasn’t always a Patriots fan, but that changed once he signed a four-year, $104 million contract last offseason. They’ve gotten their money’s worth from the 26-year-old, as Williams hasn’t played in a loss since Week 3.
The former third-round pick has clogged the running lanes for New England’s rush defense, and Williams registered two sacks in an opening-round playoff win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He certainly feels differently about the Patriots now as they prepare for the Super Bowl on Feb. 8.
“I’m here now,” Williams said. “So I love the Patriots.”
