The New England Patriots are beginning to finalize their preparations for Super Bowl LX, which will see them square off against the Seattle Seahawks. The stakes could not be higher, and all eyes are going to be on Drake Maye to see if he can lead his team to another improbable victory.

All year long, the Patriots have been overcoming the odds to prove that they are one of the best teams in the NFL once again. That has included the playoffs, as New England has managed to get past a trio of teams that featured top-five defensive units.

Maye and the offense will face another tall task against the Seahawks’ defense in the Super Bowl. If you ask former Super Bowl-winning head coach Brian Billick, he believes that if the Pats want to win this game, there’s one thing they cannot have Maye do under center.

“If you’re going to ask Drake Maye to go in and recognize pre-snap what’s going on and make adjustments, that’s going to be a mistake,” Billick said in an interview with Covers.com. “You need to create your offense with a lot of called-and-run … You’re not going to go from reading one to two to three; if you do, you’re going to get sacked.”

Throughout the year, Maye has done an excellent job of deciphering what a defense is showing him once he has the ball in his hands. He’s going to have to continue doing that, according to Billick, because if they overload Maye with information before the snap, he’s going to freeze, which will play right into Seattle’s hands.

Maye has had a lot on his plate all season long, and that is going to continue with this clash against the Seahawks. And considering how Billick knows what it takes to win on the biggest stage the NFL has to offer, it’s safe to say that New England should probably heed his advice.
