The Boston Celtics are currently enjoying some downtime during the NBA All-Star break, but all fans can talk about is Jayson Tatum. The superstar forward hasn’t played at all this season, but he appears to be closing in on a return to action. NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, for one, believes he will be back on the court this season.
Tatum suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the playoffs last year, and he has been working his way back to the court ever since then. All signs point to Tatum being ahead of schedule, but he has played coy when asked about his timeline for a return to the court.
Anthony has been keeping close tabs on Tatum and his injury rehab throughout the year. Not only does he think that Tatum will suit up this season, but he also thinks that his return could cause some problems for the rest of the league.
“It’s happening. I think it’s happening,” Anthony said when asked about Tatum’s potential return. “Boston, they keep their cards to their chest. I think we can all feel something happening there… If Jayson could come back, I think it scares the league.”
Even without Tatum this season, Boston entered the All-Star break as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. If he can get back on the court and rejoin Jaylen Brown, that could be all the Celtics need to go on a deep playoff run.
