In a thrilling Monday night finale during Week 7 of the NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings shocked everyone by pulling off a significant upset against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite being considered a full touchdown underdog, the Vikings emerged victorious with a final score of 22-17.

Before the game, when Christian McCaffrey was officially ruled in, there was a 6.5-point spread in favor of the 49ers, with an over-under of 43. However, San Francisco faced a surprising loss for the second consecutive week, marking their first two-game losing streak in nearly two years.

It’s becoming evident that maybe the 49ers aren’t as formidable as they were believed to be. Now, one might argue that it’s unfair to make such a judgment when they have a 5-2 record and are dealing with some key injuries.

Last week, the 49ers were double-digit favorites against Cleveland, with PJ Walker at quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. They were expected to cruise to victory. However, it came down to a close field goal, which they missed, resulting in a loss. Now, they were on the road once again, facing the Vikings, a team that’s been inconsistent this season, and they couldn’t secure a bounce-back win.

The 49ers’ performance is starting to raise questions. Even when they’re in close, gritty games, they’re expected to come out on top, especially considering they had most of their key players available. In post-game press conferences, they’ve been acknowledging the need to win these kinds of games, but the disappointment in their recent performances is evident.

In both of the recent losses, the 49ers weren’t blown out. They had a chance to win, scoring just three points in the fourth quarter while shutting out the Vikings. On the other hand, the Vikings have consistently played close games this season, with all seven of their games decided by a single score.

Let’s give credit where it’s due: Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings deserve praise. Cousins had a standout performance, completing 35 of 45 passes for 378 yards and two touchdowns, despite an early interception that wasn’t entirely his fault. After a rough opening drive, Cousins rebounded, and his connection with Jordan Addison was impressive.

Even without star receiver Justin Jefferson for the second consecutive game, the Vikings managed to find success through Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson

Last night, the Vikings demonstrated their ability to throw the football effectively, even against a formidable defense like the 49ers. It was a thrilling game showcasing the NFL season’s unpredictability and excitement.
