For the third consecutive season, the Jets will begin the year with a different starting quarterback. According to ESPN, sources have confirmed that Mark Sanchez will be taking snaps starting in Week 1 for the Jets this season.

Sanchez becomes the first Jets rookie to start at quarterback for the first game of the season since Dick Jamieson started the first game in franchise history when the Jets were known as the New York Titans. The last Jets rookie quarterback to start a game was Matt Robinson on Nov. 27, 1977.

Sanchez will start the Jets' third preseason game Saturday against the New York Giants as well as the team's season opener at Houston against the Texans.
