Tom Brady Confident That Connection With Joey Galloway Will Improve After New England's 16-9 loss to the Jets on Sunday, fans and critics pointed to a number of reasons for the loss. One of the biggest targets of criticism was wide receiver Joey Galloway, a 15-year NFL veteran who's looked more like a rookie in his first two games as a Patriot.

On Wednesday though, Tom Brady said the limited success with Galloway has as much to do with No. 12 as it does with No. 13.

"It's our second game playing together. It depends what the expectations are," Brady said at his locker. "If the expectations are that it will be like you're playing together for 10 years, that's not the reality. You have to go out and go through the process and make the reads and make throws. He has to understand what I'm thinking, so I'd say we've made a lot of improvement over the course of training camp and we're still making improvement."

Brady added that Galloway has been in the league a long time for a reason.

"Every relationship with a receiver is different," Brady said. "[With] some people it's very seamless, other players you got to put extra work in. Joey and I, we have a great relationship. He works extremely hard."

Brady's focus seemed to be more on his own game and what he can do to improve his mechanics.

"That's something that I'm always working on and focusing on and trying to improve on," Brady said. "There were some positive things that I took out of last game in terms of my mechanics and driving the ball. Still, I don't think I'm 100 percent comfortable with where the mechanics are at, but that's why I'm still working at it."

Through two games this season, Brady is 62-for-100 for 594 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. In 2006, the Pats opened the season with the Bills at home and the Jets on the road as well, and Brady completed 26 of 52 passes for just 383 yards, three touchdowns and two picks. The following season, Brady completed 47 of 59 passes for 576 yards, six touchdowns and one interception through two games.

Clearly, each season starts on a different level, and Brady was aware of that fact.

"We'll all trying to understand the reasons why we haven't performed as well as we'd like in the last two games," he said. "It's a number of reasons, and I think the only thing we can really focus on as players is what we can do. I can certainly make better decisions with the ball and throw it more accurately. That's where it starts for me."

The good news for the Patriots is that Brady said that he feels fine physically — though he probably shouldn't be taken at his word.

"I wouldn't admit it," he said, when asked if he would be honest about soreness after a game. "But honestly, I'm not very sore and I feel good this week and I feel good that we're moving on."
