Gaines Adams is headed to the Windy City.
The former Buccaneers defensive end was traded to the Bears on Friday night in exchange for a 2010 draft pick, according to ESPN.com.
Adams was the fourth overall pick in the 2007 draft and has done little to convince Tampa Bay that he was worth the investment. During his rookie season, the Clemson product had six sacks and 27 tackles in 16 games, and in 2008, he registered 6.5 sacks and 27 tackles.
Earlier this season, Bucs first-year head coach Raheem Morris said Adams would be considered a "bust" if he failed to post double-digit sacks, and with just one sack through Tampa Bay's first five games of 2009, it doesn't appear that double-digit sacks are in the cards for him.
Chicago should make its corresponding roster move on Saturday in order to whittle its roster down to 53 players in preparation for Sunday's game against Atlanta. Because Bears defensive linemen Anthony Adams and Israel Idonije are riddled with injuries, Adams should play against the Falcons.
